We had a party for family and colleagues at our building the next day.

Roce Ceremony

The Roce ceremony is a traditional pre-wedding ritual practiced by Goan Catholics, typically held the evening before the wedding. Centred around the “roce” (freshly extracted coconut milk), it symbolizes purity, abundance, and the washing away of sins as the bride or groom transitions from single to married life.

Bollywood Night

In East Indian Catholic traditions, picking up the bride from her godparents’ house (or the home of her parents) is a cherished preliminary step in the wedding day sequence. It honors the godparents’ role in guiding the bride while maintaining strict cultural protocols on the journey to the church. The Traditional Wedding Day Sequence. In historical East Indian (Bombay/Vasai) customs, the wedding day involved a specific progression of events:The Pick-Up: The groom, accompanied by the ‘Wazantri’ (traditional brass band), first travels to the bride’s parents’ house and then her godparents’ house. The Procession: Historically, the bride and groom would walk to the parish church separately. The bride would walk beneath a red and gold brocade umbrella, known as a ‘Shatar’.The Witnesses: In Catholic East Indian communities, godparents often serve as the official witnesses during the church ceremony, officially endorsing the union.

A Sangeet (meaning “sung together” in Sanskrit) is a joyous, music-and-dance-filled pre-wedding celebration common in South Asian weddings. A Bollywood Night is a popular modern Sangeet theme where guests and family members perform choreographed routines to upbeat, theatrical Hindi cinema songs

While the Catholic Church unites couples in matrimony in one sacred place — and for us, that place is Brazil — our journey to the altar begins with a very special moment here in India. Before we exchange our vows, we are incredibly grateful to receive the blessing of the Father, a moment of prayer and grace that carries the love of both our families with us across the miles. This announcement, held in the presence of those who have shaped who we are, feels like the perfect first step — a reminder that no matter where in the world we celebrate, our union is rooted in faith, family, and the ties that bind two worlds together.

Wedding Ceremony

There is something truly magical about celebrating love in a city as vibrant and alive as Mumbai. Our wedding ceremony brought together two families from different corners of the world. Surrounded by the people who matter most to us, we watched friendships form across languages and cultures, over shared meals, laughter, and a few happy tears. For many of our guests, it was their first time experiencing India, and seeing this incredible city through their eyes made it all the more special for us. Mumbai didn’t just host our wedding — it became a part of our story, a backdrop we will carry in our hearts forever.
